On the popular BBC show Escape to the Country, Denise Nurse, the show's host, encountered a significant hurdle with two potential homebuyers in the latest episode.

On Thursday afternoon, fans met Rachel and Tom, a couple keen on shifting to Shropshire alongside their two furry friends.

While flexible about their new home's whereabouts, they needed Denise to bear in mind some non-negotiables.

Armed with a substantial £650,000 budget, their wish list included a free-standing abode boasting at least three chambers and an acre of verdant space to call their own.

Denise introduced them to their first option a captivating red-brick manor adjacent to Prees village, reports .

Before setting foot across the threshold, Tom and Rachel were dazzled by its charm, as Rachel exclaimed: "It's lovely! It's a gorgeous-looking house. It's quaint really, looks like a proper countryside house, like an old farmhouse."

As they delved deeper into the dwelling and surveyed the extensive 2.7-acre estate, their excitement was evident.

Yet, the second residence that Denise revealed was equally mesmerising, presenting the pair with a tough pick.

Reflecting on the difficult choice between them, Tom remarked: "Two beautiful properties with both incredible potential and incredible locations. It's been really hard to compare the two."

Rachel concurred, finding the task of choosing a top preference tricky, noting: "Yeah, choosing a favourite out of the two because they both have things that we love about them, it's so difficult to decide."

Denise acknowledged that while it's great to have such options, there is a lot for them to ponder over.

She told them: "You've been brillianty today and I love that you've been so open and flexible. I think that is going to be your challenge, you're open to the possibilities and now your'e going to have to constraint that thinking and pick something."

Despite viewing one more property, the mystery house, Tom and Rachel had reached a decision by the show's conclusion. Ultimately, it was the first home they fell for and decided to revisit.

Tom commented: "All three of them were incredible and each one of them was what we wanted, we got down to the nitty-gritty of what each property would give us and we decided property number one is where we want to progress."

As the programme drew to a close, viewers discovered that the couple had made an offer which was accepted.

Escape to the Country is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
