Arsenal's co-chairman Josh Kroenke insists won't halt their ambition as he talked up life after the Brazilian.
Their former player had served as their technical director since 2019, and sporting director since 2022 - but produced on Monday. Edu has worked impressively with in recent seasons as the club become a force once again - both domestically and in Europe.
The outgoing sporting director has also played a massive role in the club's recruitment, bringing in the likes of Martin Odegaard and club-record signing .

He said: “We respect Edu’s decision and thank him for his immense contribution and dedication to drive the club forward. Everyone at the club wishes him well. We are all so fond of him and the positive energy he brings to everything and everyone.
“Change and evolution is a part of our club. We remain focused on our strategy and winning major trophies. Our succession plan will reflect this continued ambition.”
Edu handed in his resignation on Monday and will take up a new role in owner Evangelos Marinakis’s stable of clubs, which also includes Olympiakos. It is understood the move will also see him enjoy a major pay rise on his salary.
The Brazilian underlined his want to pursue a new venture when he broke his silence. “Now it is time to pursue a different challenge. Arsenal will always remain in my heart. I wish the club and its supporters only good things and all the very best," he said.
Kroenke has been part of the hierarchy at the Emirates during a period whereby the club have become challengers once more - but Arteta's only major trophy is the back in 2020. Since then Arsenal have competed but missed out on adding anymore silverware despite huge sums being spent on the playing group.
