Original Sugababes members launch fresh attack on former members ahead of huge tour

A fresh feud has been ignited by two of the original members of the when asked in an interview who was the best version of the group - as the members have had several changes over the years.

Following the departure of Siobhan, 40, who left the trio in 2001, she was replaced by . And soon after Mutya announced she had quit the band and was replaced by in 2005. This was followed by Jade Ewen joining the group in 2009 after Keisha Buchanan left.

But a feud was kick started recently after the original members decided to reunite and tour across the UK but the former members wanted to also follow suit - under the same name. Appearing on Capital Breakfast, the original members were speaking to Will Manning on his show ahead of their in April next year.

And when asked who was the best version of the hit-making pop group throughout its evolution, , who is known for her opinionated personality, wasted no time in saying: "The first one." Siobhan then added: "I think the thing is we started it when we were young teenagers, and I think there'll always be something about the Sugababes that is this for us. It's where it started and it is the essence of what it is." Mutya then chimed in and said: "It's our baby."

The girl group was created in 1998 and underwent a series of changes. But after it was announced that Siobhan, Keisha and Mutya had reformed, it was then reported that Amelle and Heidi had been approached to also tour, under the same name - which did not sit well with the original members.

A source told The Sun: "Heidi and Amelle have been approached about doing a tour as alternative Sugababes and their first call would be fellow ex-member Jade Ewen. There’s a huge appetite for the Noughties and Heidi and Amelle can offer fans something very different to the original lineup."

They added: "The original trio are furious that the others want to try and use the name as they feel it’s theirs." In February, the band were awarded a MOBO. But when Heidi's mum Karen noticed that her daughter had been "white-washed" from the nomination video of the band, she hit the roof and made her feelings known on social media.

Taking to , she wrote: "I can’t believe the cheek of it. Sugababes didn’t have a hit till Heidi joined. It is so false and disrespectful the way they are carrying on." At the time, Mutya hit back and said: "When I wasn’t in the group and the girls was doing big things without me, do you think I was getting upset about not being mentioned?"

Next April the original trio are set to tour the UK and perform their hits in cities including London, Manchester and Cardiff. Those who will rush to watch the group following in the footsteps of the Girls Aloud reunion shows, will belt out a number of their hits including Push The Button, Overload and Too Lost In You.
