Pint-loving man goes viral for breaking 'stigma' over certain beer habit

Blokes are banding together nationwide to shatter the "stigma" surrounding solo , hailing it as "one of the best".

The trend for solitary pub visits is gaining traction on /X, with individuals venturing out to their local pubs alone for a beverage.

Social media user @HarryAFC86 has sparked a conversation with his lone Stella Artois, insisting that the taboo of drinking solo "needs to be broken." He tweeted: "Stigma behind having a pint on your own needs to be broken."

The sentiment resonated with many, and although some argue there's no stigma in enjoying a drink by oneself, Harry contends it exists because it's not as widely accepted as it ought to be.

One commenter expressed their love for solo pints, saying: "There's not stigma fella, love a pint on my own in the summer, sat outside a London pub people watching." However, Harry countered: "I'd say there is, it's not really the done thing and there's defo people that judge, not that I care tho."

Others shared how ditching their phone for a pint alone served as an unexpected mental health respite, commenting: "During a difficult time in my personal life I didn't pick up the phone to friends to go for a drink but after work I'd go have a couple on my own sat in the sun and it was the headspace I needed but didn't know."

A third chimed in to praise the merits of enjoying a pint alone, saying: "Did it last week. Went out to watch the football. Nothing wrong with it. I've also been for a meal on my own before aswell. Again nothing wrong with it."

On Twitter, solo pints have gained traction as a must-have experience. One user humorously noted: "Without question, one of the best. Up there with the airport beer. Elite level."

Another person commented on the tranquillity it offers: "One of the most peaceful things you can do." Moreover, a third individual added their testimony: "Always enjoyable, the perfect chance to chill and think about whatever."

Some have suggested having a solo pint to try out the quiet, with one user saying it gives him a chance to think. They wrote: "enjoy having a pint on my own. Don't see the problem. Can get through a lot of arguments in my head and win them all as well. Don't have to buy expensive rounds either. Win win. I do have friends btw."

Others agreed, and say they don't care whether they are looked on strangely by other pub-goers.
