The Sporting Lisbon boss has been after they struck a deal with the Portuguese giants. He will officially take the reins later this month, with remaining in interim charge for now.
And one of United’s stars has now issued his thoughts on Amorim’s imminent arrival. Despite there being some concerns over a tactical overhaul at Old Trafford, as well as the Portuguese’s tacticians age at just 38, Hojlund is raring to get started under his new boss.
Speaking to , the striker said: “I’m really looking forward to it. Good ideas. I have seen how they play. I have spoken to Morten (Hjulmand, Sporting midfielder) about it, and he is also very satisfied with the coach, so I am really looking forward to him setting foot here.”

He added: “From what I’ve seen so far, it’s a three-back chain, and it might be a little different from what I’ve been used to in the past. So it will be exciting to see how he will implement his ideas, and I am very much looking forward to working with a young and ambitious manager.
“I think it is only good. He has an understanding of what the new, modern football is like. I don’t necessarily see it as a bad thing that he is young. On the contrary, it might even give something extra.”
Asked when he first became aware of Amorim’s potential appointment, Hojlund replied: “I don’t quite know that. After all, we just generally talk at the club, or when we are with the national team, about how things are going. There he (Morten Hjulmand) just talked about cool ideas and a slightly different approach than he might be used to.”
Will Ruben Amorim be a success at Manchester United?
One of Amorim’s first major tasks at Old Trafford will be to help Hojlund rediscover his best form. After 16 goals in his debut season with United following a big-money move from Atalanta, he has not quite hit the same heights this term.
The 21-year-old has scored just twice in all competitions, having struggled with injuries over the opening weeks of the campaign. Hojlund has a couple of chances to get on the scoresheet ahead of the international break in upcoming clashes against both PAOK and newly-promoted - both at Old Trafford.
