The Exorcist, a horror film infamous for its haunting soundtrack, has topped a list of movies that fans vow never to watch again because of its terrifying nature.
The 1973 film, which was banned in the UK for 25 years, tells the story of a girl believed to be possessed by the devil and stars Max von Sydow as the title character.
The poll of 2,000 horror film fans ranked Saw, starring Tobin Bell as Jigsaw, as the second most terrifying film, followed closely by The Conjuring and the 1996 classic, Scream. More recent films, such as Smile and the tense sci-fi horror A Quiet Place, also made it into the top 30 list.

Now, a third have promised themselves that they will never watch a particular horror film again because it was too scary. According to the study,45% of those surveyed wish they could erase certain scenes from their memory, while over a third have sounds that they would rather never have heard.
A staggering 70% agreed that loud noises are what make them jump the most during a horror film, with 80% attributing the tense soundtracks to making scary films even more frightening. However, 38% of respondents admitted to being just as likely to shut their eyes as they are to cover their ears during the scary parts.
Nearly six out of ten Brits admit to watching more horror films in the run-up to Halloween, with 67% saying their spooky season isn't complete without a terrifying flick, according to OnePoll.com.
'True' fans of the genre - who are likely to watch an average of four scary movies per month - the perfect horror film includes a suspenseful storyline, eerie and haunting music, and an unpredictable ending.
Gordon Harrison, Specsavers' chief audiologist, commented: "Some people love the feeling of fear. Whether it's the terrifying visuals or the spine-chilling soundtracks, our latest poll reveals how these movies test your senses to the limit."
