'Nano Banana Trend' is going viral.
Google's Gemini AI chatbot app is in tremendous discussion these days in India. This app has reached the top of the App Store charts on both iPhone and Android platforms. The main reason for its popularity is Google's new Nano Banana AI viral trend, which has created a stir on social media.
App trending at the top.
According to the report of 9to5Google, this app is also in first place in the free category in the US App Store for iPhone users. At the same time, it is currently trending at number two in Canada and the United Kingdom.
Crores of new users found from the trend
Why did this Google app suddenly rise so fast in the charts? Actually, because of the Nano Banana model launched last month. Reports indicate that within just two weeks (August 26 to September 9), the Gemini app gained 23 million new users. Furthermore, over 500 million images have been edited with this AI model since its launch.
Overtaking ChatGPT
With this success, Gemini has surpassed OpenAI's ChatGPT, which had long held the number-one position on the global app store charts. Earlier this year, ChatGPT also experienced a massive download spike due to its image-generation feature, when the "Ghibli AI Trend" went viral on social media.
What is Nano Banana AI?
This new AI model, Gemini 2.5 Flash Image, introduced by Google's DeepMind unit, is being jokingly called Nano Banana. It is an image-editing tool that allows users to upload their photos and enter desired styles or changes by typing in text. Within seconds, this AI creates new and stylish images.
