Shimron Hetmyerwreaked absolute havoc in Match 9 of the Global Super League during Guyana Amazon Warriors' run-chase against Hobart Hurricanes at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. The southpaw smashed five sixes off Fabian Allen's bowling to in the 10th over of the second innings to completely flip the script of the contest.

Allen turned to bowl from left-arm-around after Hetmyer's first six which was launched over the long-on fence. The second delivery of the over was a double. The third ball could have seen the end of Hetmyer, but to Hobart's misfortune, the ball was tipped over the rope by the deep midwicket fielder in what should have been an easy catch in the first place. Hetmyer's barrage meant the asking rate was brought down from 7.54 to 5.10.

Speaking of the match, Guyana emerged as victors by four wickets and 21 deliveries to spare. The hosts were successful in chasing down the 126-run target in 16.3 overs. The power-hitter's knock came to an end after he was caught by Jackson Bird off Usama Mir's bowling. With the manner in which he was hitting the ball, it seemed as if Hetmyer would end up breaking the record for the fastest fifty in the GSL. However, it was not meant to be at the end.

Nevertheless, he ended up as his side's top-scorer. All in all, it was a game in which batters found it hard to get going because of the double-paced nature of the pitch. Gudakesh Motie ended up securing the Player of the Match accolade due to his all-round display. With the ball, Motie's figures read 3/9 in 3.1 overs which included a maiden as well. He also chipped in with 19 runs off 13 deliveries when called upon with the bat.
