The Consortium of National Law Universities (CNLUs) on Monday announced the exam date for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2026. According to the notification, the premier law entrance test will be held on Sunday, December 7, 2025, from 2 pm to 4 pm in offline mode.
Meanwhile, the application portal for CLAT 2026 will be activated on August 1 and will be open until October 31. Applications can be submitted through the official website — consortiumofnlus.ac.in.
CLAT is the national-level entrance exam conducted for admission to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programmes offered by 22 National Law Universities (NLUs) across India.
CLAT 2026: How to register?
Step 1: Visit consortiumofnlus.ac.in to begin the registration process.
Step 2: Click on the “Register” button and provide your full name, mobile number, and email ID.
Step 3: An OTP will be sent to your registered email. Use it to verify your account and log in.
Step 4: Enter your personal details (such as date of birth, gender, and category), communication address, and academic background. You will also need to select up to three test centre preferences.
Step 5: Attach scanned copies of the necessary documents.
Step 6: Make the payment online using a debit card, credit card, or net banking facility.
Step 7: After reviewing the form, submit it and download the confirmation page for your records.
CLAT 2026: Eligibility
For Undergraduate (UG) – 5-Year Integrated LLB Programme: Candidates must have either completed Class 12 or be appearing for the qualifying exam in the current academic year.
Minimum qualifying marks required:
• General/OBC/PwD/NRI candidates: 45%
• SC/ST candidates: 40%
For Postgraduate (PG) – LLM Programme: Applicants should hold an LLB degree or be in the final year of their LLB course at the time of application.
Minimum qualifying marks required:
• General/OBC/PwD/NRI candidates: 50%
• SC/ST candidates: 45%
Application fee structure for CLAT 2026
The application fee varies as per the category and whether they opt to receive the previous years’ question papers.
For General, OBC, PwD, NRI, PIO, and OCI candidates:
• Rs 4,000 (standard fee)
• Rs 4,500 (with access to previous years’ question papers)
For SC, ST, and BPL candidates:
• Rs 3,500 (standard fee)
• Rs 4,000 (with access to previous years’ question papers)
Documents required for CLAT 2026
• Scanned copies of Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets.
• Identity and address proof (such as Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, or Driving License).
• State domicile certificate (if applicable).
• Caste/category certificate (for SC/ST/OBC applicants).
• Relevant certificate for PwD or BPL category, issued by a competent authority.
