The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday announced the appointment of Sat Sharma to the position of the party's unit head for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Saffron party's decision came a few weeks after election results were announced in the Union Territory.
In an official letter, the party announced the immediate appointment of Sat Sharma to the aforementioned position.
Further, the BJP also announced the appointment of Ravinder Raina as the National Executive Member of the party, in the same letter.
Raina was previously the Saffron party's President for Jammu and Kashmir.
"Sat Sharma appointed as the BJP president of Jammu and Kashmir. Ravinder Raina has been appointed as the National Executive Member of the party," the BJP was quoted in its letter dated November 3, 2024.
Sharma has led the BJP's UT unit before and hence has relevant experience, sources aware of the matter were quoted as saying.
Party sources told news agency PTI that Raina’s time in the role, which started in 2018, ended a while ago, so this leadership change makes sense as the BJP gets ready for organisational elections.
The Saffron party plans to name new presidents in more states soon.
