Emily in Paris Season 5 adds Bryan Greenberg and Michèle Laroque: What to expect as new faces join the romantic drama?

Send Push
Emily may still be in Paris, but her world is expanding fast—and not just geographically. Netflix’s fan-favorite romantic comedy Emily in Paris is returning for a fifth season in 2025, and with it comes an infusion of fresh energy, new entanglements, and more than a few surprises. According to Deadline, Season 5 is already in production and set to bring both familiar heartbreak and new beginnings—starting with three intriguing new characters.

Bryan Greenberg Joins as Jake
Emily in Paris is about to get a little more…American. Bryan Greenberg, best known for How to Make It in America, The Mindy Project, and most recently Suits LA, joins the cast as Jake, a fellow American expat living in the City of Light. This marks the highest number of American characters the show has seen at one time, with Jake joining Emily (Lily Collins) and last season's addition Genevieve (Thalia Besson).

What Jake’s role will be in Emily’s increasingly complicated personal and professional life is still under wraps, but fans can expect sparks, cultural comedy, and perhaps a much-needed confidant—or rival—in the midst of her expanding universe.

A Familiar Face for Sylvie: Michèle Laroque Enters as Yvette
Also joining Season 5 is iconic French actress Michèle Laroque, a César Award nominee celebrated for films like Ma Vie en Rose and The Closet. She’ll be portraying Yvette, an old friend of Sylvie Grateau (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu). With Sylvie’s romantic past catching up to her and her marriage to Laurent G (Arnaud Binard) still in play, Yvette’s presence could stir new drama—or offer unexpected support.

And then there’s Princess Jane, played by none other than Minnie Driver, whose casting was previously confirmed. As royalty enters the narrative, Emily’s glamorous life takes yet another couture-laced turn.

What Else to Expect?
Season 5 picks up mere days after Season 4's dramatic finale, as Emily settles into her new apartment in Rome. She’s now helping manage Agence Grateau’s Italian office and spending more time with Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini), the charismatic heir to a family-run cashmere empire. But even Rome can’t shield her from the Parisian chaos she left behind—especially when Nico (Paul Forman), Mindy’s ex and one of Season 4's emotional linchpins, makes his return.

Will Nico’s comeback stir unresolved feelings for Mindy (Ashley Park)? Will Sylvie and Laurent navigate their messy marriage and her Roman rendezvous? And how will Jake and Yvette fold into these stories of ambition, heartbreak, and high fashion?

Back in Paris with Fresh Eyes and Older Tensions
Filming for Emily in Paris Season 5 began in May in Rome and resumed in June in Paris. Creator Darren Star, who recently told Deadline, “I think we’ve got a really terrific season coming up,” returns as executive producer alongside a powerhouse team including Tony Hernandez, Lilly Burns, and Andrew Fleming. The show continues to be produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, Darren Star Productions, and Jax Media.

What started as a bright-eyed expat comedy has grown into a layered tale of identity, ambition, and unexpected alliances—with love triangles and workplace drama never far behind.

From cappuccinos in Rome to cocktails in Paris, Emily in Paris promises a season where personal and professional lives unravel, collide, and find new ground. With its most diverse cast yet, Season 5 hints at the beginning of a new era for Emily Cooper—one where global charm meets emotional reckoning, and the American dream finds itself tangled in French and Italian flair.
