In one of India’s largest technology infrastructure partnerships, Google, Adani Enterprises, and Bharti Airtel have joined forces to establish the country’s largest Artificial Intelligence ( AI) hub and data centre campus in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, with a combined investment of $15 billion (Rs 1.25 lakh crore) over the next five years (2026-2030).
The massive AI campus - part of Google’s multi-faceted “AI Hub India” initiative - will feature gigawatt-scale data centre operations, powered by clean energy infrastructure and supported by new international subsea cable landings that will connect India to Google’s global network. The hub aims to bring Google’s full AI stack and consumer services closer to Indian enterprises and developers.
Airtel will build a purpose-built data centre and Cable Landing Station (CLS) in Visakhapatnam and develop a high-capacity intra- and inter-city fibre network to ensure low-latency connectivity across India. AdaniConneX, the joint venture between Adani Enterprises and EdgeConneX, will co-develop the core AI data centre infrastructure and invest in green energy generation, new transmission lines, and energy storage systems to power the facility sustainably.
Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani called the initiative “an investment in the soul of a rising nation,” adding that the project will make Visakhapatnam a global destination for technology. “This partnership is a testament to our shared vision of nation-building and our commitment to empowering every Indian with the tools of the 21st century.”
“This partnership with Google is a defining moment in India’s digital future,” said Gopal Vittal, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Bharti Airtel. “By combining world-class AI infrastructure with our nation’s extraordinary talent, we are laying the foundation for India to become a leader in the AI-driven era.”
Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, said the project will provide “the essential digital backbone required to power inclusive AI growth across India.”
