The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai and nearby areas, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall later today. The alert also covers Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Nashik, and Satara, while a red alert has been issued for Palghar and hilly areas of Pune for 26 July.

As per the IMD, regions under the red alert may receive extremely heavy rainfall at isolated spots, while orange alert zones could witness heavy downpours in certain areas.

The weather warning comes as continuous rainfall caused waterlogging in several parts of Mumbai on Friday. An underpass had to be closed due to flooding, and traffic was moving slowly on many major roads, causing problems for commuters.

High tides are also expected later in the day, especially around the Marine Drive area, increasing the risk of flooding in low-lying parts of the city.

The IMD has urged residents, local bodies, and emergency services to remain alert and take all necessary precautions. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation as rainfall is likely to intensify across the coastal Konkan region, including Mumbai.
