There has never been a dull moment in Amit Sadh ’s life since he discovered his love for two-wheelers. Bike rides bring him pure joy, perspective and a feeling of liberation. However, Amit’s relationship with bikes started off quite differently. He shares, “I used to hate bikes. The sound of a bike meant my father was coming home, and that often meant I was in for some trouble. It wasn’t so much that I fell in love with bikes per se; it was more like I fell in love with riding. There’s something incredible about being on two wheels, feeling the wind against your face and just riding. It’s the best feeling in the world.”
‘Every time I hit the road, it’s an adventure waiting to unfold’
“Every journey is unique, the people I meet, the places I get to see and the experiences I have. Each ride holds a special place in my heart. Every time I hit the road, it’s an adventure waiting to unfold, and that’s what makes it all worthwhile,” he says.
‘I hold a special place in my heart for Leh-Ladakh’
While he has been on bike rides around the world, Amit’s favourite destination is the terrain of Ladakh . He says, “I hold a special place in my heart for my country and the Himalayas; hence, I love riding through Ladakh. There’s something magical about the mountains. The thrill of navigating those winding roads at high altitudes while soaking in the majestic views is something that stays with you forever. It’s not just a ride; it’s an experience that touches your soul. I’d probably be out there riding every single day!”
‘Each ride brings a sense of freedom’
Amit believes that, at times, you ride a bike just to feel alive. He explains, “Bike rides have this incredible ability to uplift me when I don’t even know I need it. There have been times when I’ve felt restless or overwhelmed, and all it took was a ride to clear my mind. Sometimes, I would ride simply because I had nothing else planned or because I missed being in the mountains. The beauty of riding is that you don’t need a specific reason; it’s all about the joy of being on the bike and feeling alive. Each ride brings a sense of freedom, tranquillity and perspective that is hard to put into words.”
Special bikes
Amit says that his first bike was a Royal Enfield and it will always be his first love. “That bike has a special place in my heart — it was with me at the start of this incredible journey! Interestingly, the first bike I ever rode was also an Enfield. The Enfield is not just a bike — I feel like it is an institution or a right of passage for most people who get into biking,” he tells us.
The actor, who has an online series – Motorcycle Saved My Life – dedicated to his love for riding, shares that he has also made a lot of memories on his Triumph Tiger 1200cc. “It has been with me on some pretty iconic rides, and it is very dear to me.”
