Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): At least 15 bills are lined up to be tabled in the upcoming monsoon session of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly. Of these, around half a dozen are almost certain to be introduced, while the remaining bills are still under discussion.
According to sources in parliamentary affairs department, law department has examined all 15 proposed bills. Out of these, four bills received clearance from the state cabinet on Tuesday. A senior officer in the department said that around six of the listed bills are ready to be tabled in the session. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is likely to convene a high-level meeting on Thursday to review Assembly’s preparedness and to hold discussions related to bills.
Among the bills that are expected to be tabled, three belong to the commercial tax department — two focusing on registration and one concerning GST. In addition, the finance department will present an appropriation bill, while the Labour Department has one bill on the list. The department of higher education is also set to introduce a bill proposing the renaming of Vikram University to Samrat Vikram University.

These drafts have been pending for several years and, despite being prepared, continue to face delays due to recurring suggestions for revisions. Sources in the urban development and housing department said that the draft of the fire safety act includes a costly proposal to establish a separate fire control headquarters, which has contributed to the delay.
The state government is also working on Jan Vishvas 2.0 bill, which proposes amendments to 45 provisions across 13 different departments. However, it is understood that the bill is still awaiting approval from the senior secretaries' committee, and may not be ready in time for this session.
