Palghar: In a major breakthrough, the Palghar police have arrested a 66-year-old man who had been absconding for over 15 years in connection with a 2009 murder case.
About The Case
The accused, identified as Santosh Dehu Kurhade, was apprehended last week in Wada, Palghar district, following a tip-off, confirmed Thane Rural Superintendent of Police Dr. D. S. Swami.
Kurhade had been wanted for the murder of Suresh Ravji Wagh, who was beaten to death on June 5, 2009. According to police, Kurhade, along with two accomplices, allegedly attacked Wagh during a dispute that escalated into a fatal assault.
An FIR had been filed under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 302 (murder), Section 324 (causing hurt with dangerous weapons), and Section 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace). While the other two accused were arrested earlier, Kurhade had remained at large since the day of the incident.
