Send Push

Bel fruit, also known as wood apple, is not just a sacred fruit in Indian tradition but also a powerhouse of health benefits. It’s widely consumed during the hot months for its cooling and digestive properties. Here's a simple and authentic recipe to make Bel Juice at home.

Ingredients:
● 1 medium-sized ripe Bel fruit

● 2 to 3 tablespoons jaggery or sugar (adjust to taste)

● 2½ to 3 cups chilled water

● A pinch of black salt (optional, for taste)

● ½ teaspoon roasted cumin powder (optional)

● Ice cubes (optional)

● Mint leaves for garnish (optional)

How to Make Bel Juice:
Step 1: Crack and Scoop the Pulp
● Take a ripe Bel fruit and crack it open using a rolling pin or a heavy knife.

● Scoop out the soft pulp using a spoon into a large mixing bowl.

Step 2: Soak the Pulp
● Add about 1 to 1½ cups of water to the pulp.

● Let it soak for 10–15 minutes to soften the fiber and make it easier to strain.

Step 3: Mash and Strain
● Using clean hands or a spoon, mash the pulp well in the water.

● Strain the mixture through a sieve to separate the juice from the seeds and fiber.

● Press the mash to extract as much juice as possible.

Step 4: Sweeten and Flavor
● Add jaggery or sugar to the strained juice and stir until completely dissolved.

● Mix in black salt and roasted cumin powder if using.

Step 5: Chill and Serve
● Add more cold water to adjust consistency as desired.

● Pour into glasses, add ice cubes, and garnish with mint leaves.

Health Benefits of Bel Juice:
● Aids digestion and prevents constipation

● Cools the body during hot weather

● Rich in vitamins A, B, and C

● Natural detoxifier and immunity booster

Tip:
For a twist, add a few drops of lemon juice for a tangy flavor or blend with soaked sabja (basil) seeds for added cooling benefits.

Enjoy your Bel Juice chilled – it’s not just refreshing but also a true elixir for the summer heat!
