Bake Off star Noel Fielding's love life from Courtney Love to Pixie Geldof age-gap fling

The eccentric host of The Great British Bake Off,Noel Fielding, is set to jump back into his hosting duties on the Channel 4 show tonight as it returns for it's sixteenth series.

Noel, 52, is renowned for his quirky style, often donning vibrant shirts or jumpers and an array of cowboy boots. His television career kicked off decades ago when he co-created The Mighty Boosh with Julian Barratt, a show that was hugely successful and earned him numerous awards in the Noughties.

Since then, the actor and TV presenter has starred in popular comedies such as Nathan Barley and The IT Crowd, before securing his own Channel 4 show, Noel Fielding's Luxury Comedy. He also served as a team captain on Never Mind the Buzzcocks prior to his current role on Bake Off.

But what is Noel's life like away from the cameras? The Great British Bake Off star has had several high-profile relationships over the years, but is currently with long-term partner Lliana Bird, with whom he shares two children. Here's everything we know about the TV star's romantic history as he prepares to return for the iconic baking series.

Lliana Bird

Noel has been with Lliana Bird, a 43-year-old broadcaster, podcaster, writer and activist, since 2010. The couple reside in the leafy suburb of Highgate, North London, with their two young children and live a very quiet life when the cameras stop rolling on Noel.

Lliana, affectionately known as Birdy, gave birth to her first daughter with Noel in 2018, who they named Dali, presumably after the Spanish surrealist artist Salvador Dali. Their first-born child Dali is now believed to be seven-years-old.

Their second daughter, Iggy was born in August 2020, and has just turned five-years-old.

Beyond her media career, Birdy is also a performer who has graced numerous theatre productions.

She runs her own production company, Bird and Be, and co-founded Choose Love, a charitable organisation that aids refugees and displaced individuals worldwide.

Previously, she worked as a radio presenter, hosting the Sunday evening programme on Radio X. She has also penned a book titled The Mice Who Sing For Sex: And Other Weird Tales From The World Of Science.

Last year, the mother-of-two revealed she had released her debut children's book, describing it as a "total dream".

Posting on Instagram to her 32,000 followers, she shared at the time of it's release: "I'm over the moon to finally be able to share some news I've been holding in for a long time. This September my first children's book will be published, by the incredible Rocket Bird Books. I honestly couldn't be prouder to be one of their writers... It's a total dream."

Delia Gaitskell

Before his romance with Lliana, Noel was involved with Delia Gaitskell, better known as Dee Plume from the group Robots in Disguise.

Dee, 48, featured in numerous episodes of The Mighty Boosh, occasionally alongside bandmate Sue Denim, which may have been how the pair first crossed paths.

Dee and Noel were together for approximately 10 years, and despite his current Bake Off fame, it's reported the television personality was hopeless in the kitchen during their relationship in his earlier days.

Her father Ted disclosed that Noel "hardly ever cooked for my daughter". Expressing his shock that Noel had secured the Bake Off role, Ted revealed: "All he would ever do was some pasta with some sauce. I am surprised he has got the job. He was never, ever into cooking, not in the slightest."

Despite their separation, Dee and Noel remain close friends – even though Noel was romantically connected to several other women during his 'wild phase', including Courtney Love and Bob Geldof's daughter Pixie.

Courtney Love

Noel was frequently photographed enjoying evenings out with Hole vocalist Courtney Love, who was famously wed to Nirvana's Kurt Cobain. The duo reportedly developed a friendship in 2006, and it was later reported that their close bond turned into blossoming romance.

Whilst they never publicly confirmed their relationship status, Noel and Courtney, 61, were regularly seen holding hands and appearing intimate during London nights out in the Noughties, particularly in Camden where he socialised with Amy Winehouse and Alison Mosshart from The Kills – who he's also rumoured to have had a brief romance with.

During a Never Mind the Buzzcocks appearance, Noel reflected on his more reckless period when he confessed to excessive drug use and admitted circumstances were "a bit dicey" around 10 years ago before he became sober.

Mimicking Courtney's voice, he recalled: "I had 10 years where Courtney Love was going, 'Ok, you gotta go home now, you gotta go home. It's over. The party's over now, go home."

Pixie Geldof

Noel was also romantically connected to Boomtown Rats legend Bob Geldof's daughter Pixie. In 2007 the Evening Standard claimed Pixie had been seen "canoodling" with Noel, and "couldn't take her eyes off him".

Noel was 33-years-old at the time whilst Pixie was only 16-years-old and was sitting her GCSEs at the time.

The Sun reported that Noel said of Pixie: "She's incredible. There's a chemistry between us and we liked each other, but she's so much younger."

Dismissing claims they were romantically involved, he continued: "When I first met her I had no idea who she was and that she was so young. It caused a lot of problems because her dad wanted to kill me obviously."

The pair were also photographed appearing intimate two years later in 2009, though Noel maintained they were "just friends" and rejected suggestions they were ever romantically linked.

Speaking at the Galaxy British Book Awards, Noel remarked: "It's just these things are... like fairytales aren't they?".
