daughter Alexa has broken her silence after her famous father The 76-year-old broke the news to fans earlier this week and cancelled all his upcoming tour dates.
In an official statement two days ago, the Uptown Girl singer said: "Billy Joel has announced that he will be cancelling all scheduled concerts following a recent diagnosis of Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH).
"This condition has been exacerbated by recent concert performances, leading to problems with hearing, vision and balance. Under his doctor's instructions, Billy is undergoing specific physical therapy and has been advised to refrain from performing during this recovery period."
The social media statement added: "Billy is thankful for the excellent care he is receiving and is fully committed to prioritising his health. He is grateful for the support from fans during this time and looks forward to the day when he can once again take the stage." Billy, who was due to play gigs in Edinburgh and Liverpool next month, added: "I'm sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience, and thank you for understanding."

Speaking out on her dad's condition for the first time, his 39-year-old daughter Alexa - who Billy shares with ex-wife, model Christie Brinkley - took to to say: "SOUND UP. We love you and we got you, Pop!"
Addressing fans, Alexa - who is also a singer-songwriter - went on to write: "I just wanted to thank you all for the beautiful outpouring of love and support amid the recent news of My Father's health diagnosis.
'My Dad is the strongest and most resilient man I’ve ever known… and he's entirely committed to making a full recovery with ongoing physical-therapy treatments as he continues to regain his strength."
She added: "The genuine care, empathy, and concern from everyone means so much to him… it means a lot to me, too," before quoting some lyrics from the song Lullabye (Good Night My Angel), which her father wrote for her.
It said: "Someday We'll All Be Gone / But Lullabies Go On And On / They Never Die / That's How You And I Will Be. The music continues… All My Love, Alexa Ray."
Fans were quick to comment underneath offering well wishes. One posted: "Your Dad has given the so much love and joy - we are here with you." Another wrote: "The whole world is rooting for you Billy!"
A third commented: "Alexis, tell your dad we are all praying for him." A fourth said: "Sending healing energy to your wonderful Dad! I know he will make a full recovery." While a fifth added: "Beautiful. Many healing thoughts, prayers and love your way."
According to the website, NPH is a rare and not well-understood condition that typically affects individuals over 60 years old. Its diagnosis can be challenging as its symptoms – mobility issues and dementia – are often linked with more prevalent conditions such as Alzheimer's disease.
