FDA dismay

The interview was published to coincide with the launch of Meghan's highly anticipated lifestyle brand, As Ever, yesterday. Meghan’s much-touted jam, costing £10.80, and a collection of herbal teas, flower sprinkles and luxury honey were all snapped up by shoppers soon after the duchess' As Ever brand, a joint venture with Netflix, began taking orders. But brushing off the criticism, she told the outlet: "Don't they know my life hasn't always been like this?" while gesturing at the sweeping views from the window and her sleeping pets. She also revealed that she "needs to work" and that "I love to work," pointing out that until she met her husband, she had held down a job since being 13.

Doria wades in

Meanwhile, it is not just Meghan who addresses the criticism, so does her mother Doria, who joins her daughter for the chat. The interviewer tells her about social media posts that claimed that Le Creuset pans are too expensive for Black women to afford. This criticism led to Black women posting online photos of their vast collections of Le Creuset pots and pans. Meghan said in response to the criticism: "This is a thing, in 2025?", while Doria is quoted as saying: "Everyone is coming in hot these days."

The kitchen is described as having a " wooden island, a well-used Viking stove and classic accents of blue-and-white tiles". It is also said to have "an old-fashioned butler's pantry" and shelves full of cookbooks. The outlet adds: "Just outside the door, a framed picture of Harry as a boy with his mother, Princess Diana, holds pride of place."
