'There is no fault in Kohli's technique'… Sunil Gavaskar told why Kohli is failing?

Send Push

These days, there is only one question on everyone's lips - what has happened to Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli? Why are these two not scoring runs? The public is answering this question itself and that answer is - it is time to remove both of them from the team…both of them do not play domestic cricket. These questions and answers are coming up because of the fate of Rohit and Virat's batting in the Test series against Bangladesh and then New Zealand. However, former great batsman Sunil Gavaskar has a slightly different opinion and he does not see any technical problem, especially with Virat Kohli's form.

In the 6 innings of the Test series against New Zealand, Kohli scored only one half-century and despite that, he could score only 93 runs in the entire series. This year Kohli played 6 Test matches and in all of them, he scored only one half-century. The way he got out against New Zealand, especially in 2-3 innings, has put Virat's ability under question. Now there are apprehensions of his career ending before the Australia tour.

If the technology is not bad then why is it failing?

Everyone is analyzing Kohli's poor form in their own way and everything from his technique to his temperament is being questioned. However, former captain and great batsman Sunil Gavaskar has a different opinion. In an interview given to a YouTube channel, Gavaskar expressed his opinion on this issue. On the question of Kohli's problem, Gavaskar said that there is no major problem with his technique.

Obviously, no one will agree with Gavaskar considering his current form, but what he said also brings out an important angle. Gavaskar said that there is no flaw in Kohli's technique but luck is not supporting him. Gavaskar called Kohli 'unlucky' and said that wherever he is making just one mistake, his game ends there. That is, he is not getting a second chance after apologizing for one mistake.

Gavaskar also gave the example of the second innings of the Bengaluru Test match and said that Kohli had batted well in that innings and scored 70 runs but his wicket was lost on the last ball of the day. Now whether the reason is technical fault or Kohli's bad luck, the loss is being suffered by Virat himself and Team India. Therefore, the hope is that Kohli returns to form in Australia and rains runs while batting strongly.
