The special thing is that for the first time, companies from both private and government sectors will get equal opportunities to participate in the bid process for manufacturing 5.5 generation fighter jet prototypes.
The Government of India has taken an important decision in the defense sector and encouraged private companies to manufacture fighter jets. The government's decision can be of great benefit to some private companies active in the defense sector. These include Baba Kalyani Group's company Bharat Forge, Tata Advanced System Limited, L&T and Adani Group companies. In fact, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has approved the framework related to the development of the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) program. The special thing is that for the first time in this, companies from both private and government sectors will get equal opportunities to participate in the bid process for manufacturing 5.5 generation fighter jet prototypes. Earlier, only HAL i.e. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited has been manufacturing fighter jets in the country, which has developed light fighter aircraft like Tejas.
Bharat Forge already provides trucks, artillery tanks and other military equipment to the Indian Army. Apart from this, Tata Advanced System and Adani Defense and Aerospace are also active in the manufacture of military equipment. At the same time, L&T Group also manufactures artillery guns and missile systems. With the approval of the government to join the fighter jet manufacturing program, the demand for military equipment of these companies can increase not only in the country but also abroad.
Bharat Forge dominates the defense sector
Bharat Forge is a leading private sector defence company that manufactures military equipment to meet the needs of the Indian Army and global armed forces.
TASL is making airplanes
Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL), a Tata Sons company, is also an important player in aerospace and defense solutions in India. The company manufactures aerostructures and aeroengines, airborne platforms and other military equipment.
Adani Defense and Aerospace Business
At the same time, Adani Defence & Aerospace manufactures UAVs, counter drone systems and small arms accessories.
With this, the company aims to develop India as a hub of world-class and high-tech defense manufacturing.
L&T has orders worth $726 million
Apart from this, the country's leading construction group Larsen & Toubro (L&T) is also active in the defense sector and the company aims to build a defense business worth billions of dollars. Currently, the company has orders worth about $726 million. The company is excited to support the government's efforts to upgrade and modernize the army and to supply them.
However, all these companies do not manufacture fighter jets at present but are keen to work in this direction. Now that the government has given them this opportunity, they can start work on manufacturing fighter jets in India. For this, these private companies can manufacture Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft in collaboration with foreign defense companies. Let us tell you that the first prototype of Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) is expected to be ready between 2026 and 2027.
