Washington: A strange incident created a stir in the US capital Washington DC on Tuesday afternoon. An unknown person threw an object on the North Lawn of the White House, the official residence of US President Donald Trump, after which the entire complex was put on lockdown. Suddenly the security agencies became active and the media was immediately taken to the briefing room. After about 30 minutes of chaos, the Secret Service announced 'all-clear' and the press was allowed to go out again.
According to media reports, an unknown person threw something across the White House fence. The Secret Service sealed the entire area without wasting any time and Pennsylvania Avenue was also closed. Press Secretary Caroline Levitt later issued a statement saying, 'Someone threw his phone.' However, she did not clarify why such a strict security procedure was implemented due to a simple phone throw. It is worth noting that this incident happened at a time when US President Donald Trump was about to leave for a program in Pennsylvania.
Exactly a year ago, Trump was attacked in this state, in which blood oozed out of one of his ears. A firefighter died and two people were seriously injured. Even today, that attack is counted among the most horrific incidents in American politics. The investigating agencies have not yet been able to find out why the attacker, Thomas Matthew Crooks, fired the bullet. This incident has once again raised questions on the security system of the White House. If such a big alert had to be issued just because a phone was thrown, it means that the agencies have now become very cautious about every suspicious activity.
