All gardens should have this 'simple' plant to protect flowers and veg

A garden expert has shared the one plant he believes everyone should have in their garden as it acts as a natural pest control.

Most gardeners, whether experts or amateurs, will know just how persitant slug, snails and other pests can be to remove once they've entered your garden.

To help, garderner Joe, who is better know as 'JoesGarden' has shared his top tip on how to keep the pests at bay, and it involves adding one common plant to your

"This here is one simple plant that I recommend in every ," he said in the video. "Every part of my garden has to have nasturtiums."

Joe went on to explain: "What's really cool is the whole plant, including the flowers, the seed pods, and even the leaves are 100% edible. But more importantly, they're fantastic when planted in your vegetable patch because absolutely everything loves to eat them."

He went on to explain that this is a good thing, as it means pests will be drawn to the nasturum rather than your flowers or vegetable plants.

" and snails can't get enough of nasturtium foliage, and cabbage butterflies love laying their caterpillar eggs underneath the leaves," he said. "This means these act as a natural pest control as they help to keep these unwanted garden visitors away from your prized crops."

He went on to say that April is the perfect time to add the plant to your garden, whether you decide to buy the cheap plant at the shops or growing them yourself from seed.

Joe explained: "And now is the perfect time to pick up a few cheap nasturtium plants from the shops, or even better, sow some seeds to plant all around the garden, where each year, they'll grow bloom and self-seed to return every spring, giving you an almost endless supply all from a few cheap plants."

I've never had to reseed. they are currently growing now. once they drop seeds they live there now."

A second person said: "I make a pesto using the nasturtium leaves and flowers! Good way to bulk up a basil pesto, and it's delicious peppery flavour!"
