has topped off his 50th birthday celebrations with an intimate trp to the Scottish Highlands with his sons Romeo, 22, and Criz, 20. But now, the football ace has acknowledged the absence of his eldest son Brooklyn.
On Monday (May 5), the sportsman shared a series of snaps on Instargam from his fishing and camping holiday with his two younger sons, revealing that it had been in the diary for months. The trip, which included fishing for lobsters and enjoying a well-deserved barbecue appeared to focus on family time and embracing the outdoors. He captioned the post: "Six months ago planned a trip with my boys at the start of last week to camp and fish for my 50th. Was so much fun."
In another post, he added: "You were missed Brooklyn", tagging his 26-year-old son above a lakeside snap featuring the doting dad and his sons Romeo and Cruz.
Brooklyn, who lives across the pond with his wife Nicola Peltz, did not attend the trip of Beckham's birthday bash in London over the weekend. The high-profile party was attended by several close friends and influential figures from the worlds of sport, entertainment, and fashion.
His absence comes under the shadow of persistent reports of tension between the couple and parts of the Beckham household, although neither party has publicly addressed these claims.
The football star also gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at his Scottish stay, which included a candid snap of Romeo resting inside a bothy - a basic shelter traditionally used by hikers - and footage of the group cooking up a meal together. One caption read: "Dinner for three. Fresh scallops, blue lobster, and crabs all caught a few hours before this."
While the trip was a step away from the glamorous celebrations the Beckhams family is often associated with, it marked a personal milestone for the footballer. He humourously captioned the snap of him in the woods: "Dad's almost 50 in this shot. I needed a little rest."
Brooklyn and Nicola have not commented on their absence from the family celebrations, and the doting dad did not elaborate beyond this brief note to his eldest son. The family's public posts haven't suggested any further drama, but the acknowledgement of Brooklyn missing the trup stands out in an otherwise celebratory series of posts from the birthday snaps.
It comes after reports that Brooklyn and Nicola have quietly withdrawn from the Met Gala following rumours of family tensions. It was understood that they could be among the star-studded guest list attending the charity event in the US.
But now it has been claimed that Brooklyn and Nicola have cancelled their appearance over the weekend, with the couple instead choosing to remain in the UK. The decision to stay in London is said to have originally been linked to his father's 50th birthday celebrations.
Brooklyn and Nicola are no strangers to the Metropolitan Museum of Art after previously walking the red carpet at the Hollywood event on multiple occasions - which has the theme Superfune: Tailoring Black Style for stars to follow this year.
A source told The Sun: "They cancelled plans to attend the Met because they really intended to be at David's party on Saturday (May 3). But Brooklyn is really upset that blame for the rift has been levelled at Nicola. She has never told him what to do and has been nothing but supportive - she's a loyal wife."
