Liverpool are set to rebuff any last-minute attempts to sign Harvey Elliott before Monday's transfer deadline, with manager Arne Slot keen to keep the England Under-21 star for the upcoming season. West Ham United had reportedly shown interest earlier this summer, and there have been discussions with RB Leipzig regarding a potential deal linked to Xavi Simons' future.
Dutch winger Simons is on the brink of a £51million move from Leipzig to Tottenham Hotspur. This is expected to spark increased interest from the Bundesliga side as they seek a replacement for the 22-year-old. However, according to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool are preparing for the new season with Elliott in their squad and would only consider selling him if it meant a significant profit on the minimal £4m fee they paid Fulham for him in 2019, following a tribunal hearing.
Given recent transfers such as Tyler Dibling to Everton, Jacob Ramsey to Newcastle United, Matheus Fernandes to West Ham United, and Omari Hutchinson to Nottingham Forest, all for sums between £38m and £42m, Liverpool believe that the true value of 22-year-old Elliott, who played a key role in England's European Under-21 Championship victory in June, far surpasses the current market rate.
Liverpool's position appears to be reinforced by Newcastle United's looming £65m swoop for Nick Woltemade, the Germany Under-21 international who faced Elliott and his England teammates in the Euros final on June 30.
Stuttgart forward Woltemade claimed second place behind Elliott for Player of the Tournament honours in Bratislava, with Reds boss Slot keen to retain the adaptable midfielder beyond Monday evening's September 1 deadline.

During the Hong Kong portion of the club's pre-season Asian tour in July, Elliott revealed his thoughts on his future: "If I had it my way I would be here for the rest of my career, it's as simple as that.
"I love everything about the club, but at the same time I kind of need to be selfish and see what's best for me. I have big ambitions. I want to get in the World Cup squad.
"I want to keep being successful as a player. It's something I still need to review. I need to have a talk with everyone and review the situation.
"We have many new players who have come in so whether it blocks the path for me I'm not sure. It's something I need to have a look at and decide."
