Bill Skarsgard, known for his chilling portrayals of nightmarish characters such as Nosferatu's Count Orlok and Hemlock Grove's Roman Godfrey, is perhaps most famous for his role as Pennywise the Dancing Clown.
The actor brought this character, once played by Rocky Horror legend Tim Curry, to life in 2017's IT Chapter One and its 2019 sequel, IT Chapter Two.
Skarsgard is set to reprise his role as Pennywise in the upcoming IT-inspired TV series, Welcome to Derry. This eight-part series delves deeper into the origins of the sewer-dwelling creature, drawing from the interlude pages in Stephen King's 1986 novel.
As the series is set to be available for UK viewers tomorrow (October 27), fans may be curious about Skarsgard's personal life.
The 35-year-old actor isn't married, but he is in a long-term relationship with Swedish actress Alida Morberg, 40. The couple share two children: a daughter born in 2019 and a second child born in 2023.
Skarsgard and Morberg have appeared together on screen in the 2022 miniseries Clark. They have been romantically linked since 2016, when they were spotted together at the premiere of The Divergent Series: Allegiant, reports the Mirror.
A month later, Morberg shared a photo of Skarsgard on her Instagram account.
Despite their high-profile careers, they have managed to keep their private life away from the public eye, including how they first met and details about their children.
Bill's romantic history prior to meeting Alida is also shrouded in mystery, particularly due to his lack of presence on social media platforms.
The specific episode in which the star will appear as Pennywise is being kept under wraps for now. However, the show's executive producers, Andy and Barbara Muschietti, hinted that it would be later in the series.
"I've said this before, but he is our shark," Barbara revealed during an interview with Screen Rant. "You've got to bring him out with all his complexity in the right moments, otherwise It loses its power.
"I am absolutely convinced that he is still as terrifying as he is because of that dose-ification."
IT: Welcome to Derry premieres on Sky and NOW TV on October 27 with episodes then released weekly every Monday
