The Princess of Wales, 43, visited RAF Coningsby for the first time since becoming its Royal Honorary Air Commodore in 2023 and fans have been "in awe" of her one expert move she deployed during her important visit.
In a viral video shared online, Princess Kate looks chic in a grey suit, as she gracefully descended backwards down a staircase adjacent to the Quick Reaction Alert Typhoon aircraft despite wearing extremely high heels. Fans have been quick to comment on Kate's clever act to ensure she stepped down from the aircraft safely. One user on X wrote: "Literally in awe of this video of the Princess of Wales today walking down those stairs in heels." Another commented: "In reverse, in heels, & still a MASTERCLASS in elegance!"
A high-heel wearer also commented: "I wear high heels all the time and no I wouldn't have done that so seamlessly and graciously."
Another joked: "She can tie her hair in a bun with no pins, and walk down stairs!"
Going for a classy monochrome look, Kate stunned in a two-piece Bella Freud grey suit, with a slim cut and a deep break, for a modern look, paired with straight-leg trousers to match.
Kate's gold-winged RAF brooch was a subtle way of paying tribute to the force on her visit. Typhoons are used to respond to potential threats over UK airspace and RAF Coningsby is just one of two Quick Reaction Alert stations in the United Kingdom, meaning the fighter jets vital to national security.
According to fashion stylist Constance Richardson, the grey Kate wore was an "intriguing" choice of colour for the Princess of Wales, and a "softer alternative to black". Speaking to Hello! Magazine, she said: "It's a colour that's often underestimated, but in fashion psychology it represents balance and authority. By wearing a soft grey monochrome look, Kate is communicating quiet strength. It's refined and professional without being overpowering."
Princess Katetook the controls of a flight simulator and performed a loop-the-loop on her first visit to RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire this afternoon.
And she shared how her youngest son Louis, seven, is keen to become a fighter pilot, but added: "I'm going to tell them (her children) it takes eight years and a lot of hard work."
Kate first began her visit with a private briefing from Group Captain Paul O'Grady, Station Commander and Warrant Officer Nikki Nolan, Station Warrant Officer on the past 18 months of activity.
After touring several areas of the air station and meeting personnel, Kate's last engagement was meeting the families of those based there.
