Many people bring snacks on planes, especially when they're travelling long distance, in case they get hungry onboard. But sometimes you might forget, or you might choose to rely on the food that is served to you.
On most long-haul , passengers can expect to receive complimentary meals and drinks - but the number of meals will depend on the airline, flight duration, and the class you're travelling in.
That being said, one passenger has found a hack to get more free food while travelling long distance, no matter which class you've travelling in. couple Annie and Grant from the UK recently shared the clever method on their TikTok page, @trackingourtravels.
In a recent clip, Annie said she couldn't "gatekeep" the any longer, and said it's something "everyone should know". And it couldn't be more simple.
Annie explained: "If you get served a meal or a snack on a plane, really often they have loads of those left over and they're not allowed to do anything with them. They'll probably just bin them.
"So if you ask if they've got any spares, normally you'll get given one."
The video was shared from a flight where Annie said they were served a snack that had a particularly good cupcake with it, and they decided to demonstrate how easy it is to get free food.
Annie's fiancé Grant asked the flight attendants if they had any extras, and to their surprise, they got given four.
In the comment section people were amazed by the hack, as they'd never thought to ask for more before.
"What a win! Never even thought to do this," said one person. Annie replied: "My cousin told me about it recently abnd you bet we'll be doing this every time now!"
Another said: "Omg [I] would've never even thought of that. What a genius idea, haha!" And a third said: "Omg what a hack! Love that they gave you four extras too. What a win!!"
A flight attendant, who claimed to work for Southwest Airlines, previously answered a question on Reddit about whether they get upset when people ask for extra food on flights.
The flight attendant replied: "Nope, I will give you as many as you like. Just say please and thank you. I honestly think we don't really care if you ask for more than one snack. At least I don't.
"We get restocked on every provisioning city and we definitely have extra bags all the time. So please don't be afraid to ask. Whenever someone asked me for an extra snack I give them like three or four."
Of course, this will completely depend on the airline.
