Applying sun cream daily is crucial for protecting skin against harmful rays, but aftersun care is equally vital. Ideal for those who have spent hours in the sun, an aftersun gel can leave dry skin hydrated and provide cooling relief.
E45's Aftersun Gel is a fast-absorbing formula that can be used on any part of the body, including the face and hands. The mild ingredients make it suitable for sensitive and eczema-prone skin types, and also for the whole family to use. Available on Amazon for £12.99, the gel is enriched with vitamin B5 to retain skin moisture and reduce inflammation. It nourishes skin that has been exposed to the sun, making it perfect for sun-lovers and holidaymakers.
The British skincare brand also claims: "Within 60 seconds of application, skin will start to feel cooler, calmer, and hydrated. For an extra cooling effect, keep our After Sun Gel in the fridge."
For those who aren't fans of the gel texture, KinKind's SOOTHE me! AfterSun Lotion Bar is a fantastic eco-friendly alternative. Priced at £7.50 for a bar, the solid body lotion is packed with soothing aloe vera and moisturising shea butter and cocoa butter, reports the Liverpool Echo.
On Amazon, shoppers can also consider the Aftersun Lotion from The Organic Pharmacy, which is on offer at Debenhams for £17.60 instead of £22. The 200ml tube is formulated with organic aloe vera, chamomile and rosehip oil to restore hydration.
E45 has established itself as a skincare authority for dry and irritated skin, treating eczema, psoriasis, ichthyosis, and various other parched skin ailments. Their Aftersun Gel has achieved a remarkable overall rating of 4.6 out of five, with one customer commenting: "A good aftersun gel especially for those with sensitive skin. My son has eczema and this stuff helps cool his skin after being in the sun without irritating his skin."
Another reviewer revealed: "This soothes as soon as you put it on and dries fast enough that its not a bother. We keep ours in the fridge for sun burn."
A third customer remarked: "Used for two weeks in Florida where the sun was like a blow torch through a blast furnace... and no amount of sun screen was enough. This gel was amazing to cool shoulders, backs and faces. Rubs in nicely and eases the soreness."
Nevertheless, when measured against rival aftersun treatments available, certain buyers observed that it's 'too expensive', notwithstanding the fragrance-free and non-irritating formulation.
Conversely, other purchasers described the cost of E45 Aftersun Gel as 'reasonable' and 'in line with the market prices'. One satisfied buyer commented: "I am quite pale and tend to burn easily so I cannot survive without a good after sun. This is especially nice when you put this in the fridge, this makes the cooling sensation amazing."
