A beautiful seaside town in Turkey is compared to one of South Asia's most iconic travel destinations - but without the hordes of tourists. Side is a town on the country's southern Mediterranean coast in the province of Antalya, known for the striking architecture of its ancient past, including a Roman temple to Apollo and a spectacular amphitheatre.
It's also home to stunning beaches, including the West Beach and East Beach, which look out onto the deep blue of the Mediterranean. The Independent likened its idyllic seaside atmosphere to the Maldives. A guide told the outlet that autumn is the best time to visit when the mercury hovers at around 27C.
It's also surrounded by extraordinary natural beauty, including the Green Canyon on the Manavgat River, the tranquil waters of Green Lake, and the Taurus Mountains.

According to Tui, temperatures in Side average at around 16C in November, meaning it might be a bit cool for sunbathing as we head towards winter.
The travel firm says conditions during this month offer "a mix of mild and cool temperatures with frequent showers, creating a setting of refreshing autumn days".
Visitors to the coastal spot "can expect a blend of sunshine and cloudy days, with comfortable conditions for exploring outdoor historical sites and nature reserves", it adds.
Though you may experience some occasional rain "the overall climate remains suitable for outdoor exploration, revealing the subtle beauty of Side in its late autumn attire", it's weather page for the town adds.
The flight time from the UK to the nearest airport, Antalya Airport (AYT), is around four hours.
From there you can get a transfer to Side that takes around an hour and 15 minutes.
