and have had their fair share of sharp-tongued barbs to contend with over the years.
, however, was an unlikely source for a pointed remark aimed at the Sussexes. Often viewed as a potential mediator between the warring Wales and Sussex factions of the royal household, Zara reportedly hardly has an axe to grind when it comes to Harry and Meghan.
And yet that didn't stop the former Olympian from allegedly making a blistering comment at Harry during the wedding of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank.
Eugenie and Jack got married at the same church, St George's Chapel in Windsor, as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex - only five months later.
During Princess Eugenie's wedding, Zara, who sat next to her ex-rugby-playing husband Mike Tindall, turned to the California-based couple.
Noting the understated atmosphere at the wedding of the Princess and Mr Brooksbank, Zara turned to Harry and Meghan and delivered a 10-word jibe.
"It's very quiet compared to the screaming at your wedding", she quipped, according to a lip reader.
In apparent surprise at the reference, Harry appeared to respond: "Mine?". Zara's mention of screaming may well have been a nod to Bishop Michael Curry's speech at Harry and Meghan's ceremony.
Bishop Curry won praise and copped criticism for his traditional American sermon delivery. Very Reverend Trevor Beeson said of the 14-minute sermon: "The sermon was, I believe, seriously misjudged and distorted what was otherwise a delightful and moving occasion."
The Archbishop of Canterbury called the sermon "fantastic".
