Bengaluru: A 30-year-old woman was knocked down by a speeding Mercedes-Benz near the Kengeri bus stop in Bengaluru. Following the incident, she sustained severe injuries and later succumbed to them. The accused driver, identified as 20-year-old Dhanush, is suspected to have been inebriated during the incident and has been arrested.The speeding car also hit a bike, injuring the rider. After the accident, onlookers managed to apprehend the driver and handed him over to the police. The incident took place on November 2, and the Kengeri police have registered a case. In separate incident, an 18-year-old named Shabresh died after a firecracker stunt went horribly wrong in Bengaluru’s Konankunte area, as per police sources. The festive gathering, meant to be a night of fun and celebration, took a tragic turn as Shabresh, under the influence of alcohol, accepted a risky challenge involving firecrackers.According to reports, Shabresh’s friends dared him to sit on a box filled with firecrackers and light them. CCTV footage captured the chilling moment as the firecrackers ignited, creating a loud explosion that caused Shabresh to fall heavily. Though his friends acted quickly and rushed him to the hospital, he could not be saved and succumbed to his injuries hours later.Police were immediately alerted to the incident and arrived at the scene. A case has been registered and six people has been taken into custody. Police are continuing their investigation into the event as further details are awaited. In another incident from Bengaluru, two students were arrested by city police on Friday for allegedly throwing lit firecrackers on a busy road while riding a scooter. One of the accused has been identified as 19-year-old Aditya S, a resident of Kaduganahalli in Ashok Nagar, while his friend, who was also involved, is 18 years old.
