Prayagraj: Pratapgarh police on Sunday arrested a hardened criminal identified as Kallan alias Sabir, a resident of Udaypur. They seized a country-made pistol of 0.315 bore, along with two live cartridges and a bike from his possession. Wanted in connection with over a dozen criminal cases, he was also carrying a Rs 25,000 cash reward on his head. The arrest of the criminal was made near Rajendra Nagar crossing road while he was planning to execute a crime.
Police, meanwhile, claimed that the arrested criminal, along with his accomplice Salman, opened fire on police on April 21 during an encounter. While police managed to arrest Salman after he sustained bullet injuries in an exchange of fire with police, Kallan managed to give a slip to the police party.
