Indore: Local administration, police, and other departments conducted a ‘rescue' operation during the planned blackout on Wednesday evening.
"A scenario was created in boys' hostel at MGM Medical College where a building was simulated to have caught fire, causing damage and trapping people inside," said DCP Abhinay Vishwakarma.
"Fire brigade, Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC), and State Disaster Emergency Response Force (SDERF) teams collaborated with the police in the rescue effort. A total of 73 people were safely evacuated while 18 persons simulating injuries were rescued using ropes and ladders," he said.
"The ‘injured' were promptly rushed to MY Hospital. The rescue operation commenced at 7:30 pm and was successfully completed in approximately 30-35 minutes," Vishwakarma said.
