Man arrested for series of house break-ins & vehicle thefts in Ratlam

Indore: Ratlam's Industrial Area police arrested a man involved in series of house break-ins and vehicle thefts across the city.

The man, identified as Gurdeep alias Lucky, a resident of Rajswa Colony, was arrested during a routine vehicle check at Banjali Bypass. He was found in possession of a two-wheeler that was reported stolen from Sakhwal Nagar on Wednesday night.

Police investigation revealed that Gurdeep was involved in at least seven burglary and vehicle theft cases. On Wednesday night, he also broke into unoccupied houses in Shubham Srishti Colony and Central Plaza, Kasturba Nagar, stealing gold and silver ornaments. He was previously involved in a theft of a two-wheeler from MB Nagar, and silver jewellery from a locked house in Pukhraj Colony on April 29. On Oct 26, 2024, he had stolen silver jewellery and cash from a house in Siddharth Nagar. He was also found responsible for stealing a bike in 2023.

During interrogation, Gurdeep confessed to the crimes, admitting to breaking locks and stealing valuables from various homes and vehicles from various areas. A detailed search of the scooter led to recovery of tools used in breaking into houses and several stolen items including gold chains, mangalsutras, rings, earrings, and pearls. Based on his information, the police recovered two scooters, one bike, around Rs 3,500 in cash, and gold and silver ornaments worth approximately Rs 8 lakh.

A case was registered under section 303(2) of BNS against Gurdeep who would be produced in court on Friday. Theft cases are also registered against him at Station Road Police Station and GRP Police Station, Ratlam.
