BHOPAL: A girl who was making a reel on her mobile phone during a wedding ceremony in Rewa district late on Wednesday died of bullet injury. A country-made pistol and used shells were also found near the body of the 19-year-old leaving the police confused.
Cops are now investigating whether it was a suicide, a freak accident, or a murder.
The incident took place at Busail village in the Semaria police station area late on May 7.
A post-mortem of the body was performed on Thursday that confirmed death due to bullet injury.
The deceased Mahi Singh, a resident of Mahurach village of Satna district, who came to her maternal uncle's house in Busail village of Rewa district to attend a wedding, was a first year BSc student at Satna.
"The bullet was fired from close range. The weapon, a country-made pistol, and used shells were also found nearby. We are seeking help from forensic teams," Semaria police station in-charge, Shringesh Rajput, told TOI.
