Imphal: Inner Manipur Lok Sabha MP Angomcha Bimol Akoijam has said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should apologise to the people of Manipur, if at all, he has some shame, reports Donald Sairem.
The Congress MP said the same when asked what he expects from the PM's possible visit, amid growing speculations over Modi's visit to Manipur this month, which is going to be the first time since the communal violence in the state erupted on May 3, 2023.
Speaking during an event held in Imphal East on Wednesday, Bimol said the present situation in Manipur is something the state has not witnessed throughout the course of its history and reflects an imminent catastrophe. He said thousands of people are still languishing in relief camps, having not been able to return to their homes and freedom of movement has been robbed from the citizens for over two years.
The opposition Congress has been criticising the PM for his failure to visit Manipur, where over 260 people have died since May 2023.
