Indore: A 15-year-old girl was killed and her mother injured when a two-wheeler they were riding on was hit by a speeding vehicle near SICA School in Lasudia area on Tuesday night.
According to Lasudia police, the girl, Anushka Tiwari, a resident of Bajrang Nagar, had gone to visit her maternal grandparents in Lahiya Colony with her mother Bharti to celebrate her Class 10 result. On their way back home, a speeding vehicle hit their two-wheeler. Bystanders rushed them to ESIC hospital. Anushka succumbed to her injuries late at night while Bharti is currently undergoing treatment.
Anushka's father, Arun Tiwari, accused the hospital staff of serious negligence. He said that despite bringing his daughter to the hospital promptly after the accident, doctors and staff delayed starting treatment because she did not have any visible bleeding. Anushka suffered a severe injury near her waist and was visibly in distress, lying on a stretcher and struggling to breathe. Repeated pleas for urgent attention were allegedly ignored by the staff, he said.
In a desperate attempt to save her, the family took Anushka to a private hospital, but they were turned away with instructions to return to the original hospital. The continuous delays and lack of proper care led to deterioration in Anushka's condition, and she ultimately died on the stretcher, the family alleged.
Anushka had received her Class 10 board exam results on Tuesday morning in which she had scored well. In the evening, she visited a temple with her mother and later went to her grandmother's house with sweets to celebrate.
Lasudia police station in-charge Taresh Soni said that the death was recorded and the body was handed over to family members. The vehicle which caused the accident has been identified.
