Jaipur: In the wake of an aerial attack by Pakistan on districts in Rajasthan close to the Indo-Pak border, ministers and BJP legislators of the state began camping in border areas Saturday to coordinate with local administrations and provide support to residents.
The move came after CM Bhajan Lal Sharma issued directives in this regard Friday, urging party functionaries to remain on the ground and respond swiftly to any emergencies.
Even after a ceasefire was announced late Saturday afternoon, the elected representatives continued to remain stationed in the border regions. They would stay there till further instructions come from the CM, said sources.
Earlier in the day, Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat visited Jaisalmer to assess the situation, and Sriganganagar MP Kuldeep Indora toured sensitive areas within his constituency. In Barmer, minister KK Vishnoi held a meeting with sarpanches of border villages to review preparedness and reassure the public. TNN
