KOTA: A speedy car mowed down a woman sitting outside her home and four children playing nearby in the colony’s lane in Ajay Ahuja Narar under Anantpur police station limits, leaving the five critically injured.
The mishap occurred on Thursday night at around 9 pm while the woman, identified as Indrabai (55), was sitting outside her house. Her nephew Vivan (7), niece Yashika (11), along with two neighbouring children Vaisali (8) and Anisha (10), were playing in the lane and riding bicycles.
Suddenly, one of the bicycles got stuck and the children began repairing it, a speedy car emerged from the end of the lane and rammed the children and the woman.
The five persons, including four children, sustained injuries in the mishap and were immediately rushed to a private hospital, where three of them were reportedly under treatment on Sunday, while two others, including Indrabai, were discharged after treatment on Saturday.
Police seized the car and registered a case of negligent driving against its driver, who was detained the day after the mishap, circle inspector at Anantpura police station Bhupendra Singh stated on Sunday.
Two injured, including the woman, were discharged after treatment on Saturday, while three children are still under treatment and their condition is reportedly out of danger.
A footage of CCTV installed in a neighbouring house also surfaced on Saturday night.
