Kanpur: Following the tragic fire in Chaman Ganj claiming lives of five people, the Kanpur Development Authority on Thursday, sealed two illegally operating factories.
These factories and warehouses were being run in the basements of plots in Chamanganj. After inspection, a biscuit factory and another factory were sealed. The factory owner had set up a warehouse in the basement. Seeing the KDA team, several other operators locked up and fled.
In a recent fire incident, five members of a family were burnt alive. After questions were raised about the KDA's role, this was the first action taken on Thursday.
Under the instructions of KDA vice-president Madan Singh Garbyal, special officer (Enforcement Zone-1) Sat Shukla raided Subi Agency at premises no. 105/732 Part, Prem Nagar, Chaman Ganj. Here, a warehouse and factory, owned by on Rahul, were being operated in a basement covering approximately 150 square metres.
Similarly, a biscuit factory was being operated in the basement of a plot covering 180 square metres at premises no. 105/732 Part, Prem Nagar, Chaman Ganj, managed by Bablu. Both basements were sealed in the presence of the police. During the operation, Junior Engineer Kailash Singh, ex-servicemen, supervisors, and the enforcement team were present.
