Mysuru: Mysuru district in-charge minister HC Mahadevappa on Thursday said govt will plan tourism activities throughout the year after discussing with stakeholders.

Mahadevappa said Mysuru is a prime tourism destination and it can boost the economy. Therefore, if events are organised throughout the year in Mysuru, more tourists will visit, he explained during a press conference on the Dasara festival.

"I have discussed the matter with the deputy commissioner and soon a meeting will be held with stakeholders to prepare a plan," the minister stated.

"Due to good rainfall in the state, chief minister Siddaramaiah advised conducting the festival in a grand manner during the Dasara high-level committee meeting. Accordingly, the Dasara festival was conducted on a grand scale. Tourists poured in from across the country and abroad," he stated.

"An audit will be conducted soon to account for the expenses of Dasara events. I am happy to hear that tourism was profitable this time. The hotel industry had an estimated transaction of Rs 100 crore," the minister claimed.

"In a large event like the Dasara festival, minor issues and disturbances are common," said Mahadevappa. "I regret the attack on a photojournalist on Mysuru Palace premises during the Dasara procession. In the future, all these will be rectified, and the Dasara festival will be conducted more systematically and neatly," he added.

Animal husbandry minister K Venkatesh, MLC D Thimmaiah, Mysuru District Congress Committee president BJ Vijayakumar, deputy commissioner G Lakshmikanth Reddy, ZP CEO KM Gayathri, and SP N Vishnuvardhana were present.
