Bhopal: At the entrance of Bhopal Metro transport depot, a plume of toxic smoke rose into the sky on Saturday — the result of plastic waste being openly set ablaze by on-duty security guards. When questioned, the guards shrugged off concerns, claiming, "It's better to burn it than let it lie." But this wasn't ordinary trash — it was hazardous polythene waste, ignited in full view of a public facility meant to symbolize modern infrastructure. No officials were present to intervene, and the acrid fumes lingered in the air for a long time, visible from a kilometer away.
