Nitesh Tiwari's epic adaptation of Ramayan continues to grow in scale and spectacle with each new development, and now sources reveal that actor Kunal Kapoor, who plays Lord Indra in the film, is set to feature in a huge action sequence opposite Yash, who portrays the mighty Raavan. The shoot for the film is already underway and Yash would start shooting for his portions this week.

According to sources close to the production shared with ETimes , one of the major set pieces of the film will feature a high-octane battle between Lord Indra and Raavan—an intense showdown that takes place after Raavan gains near-immortality through penance and begins his conquest of the three realms: earth, heaven, and hell. This moment in the story marks a pivotal point in Raavan’s rise, where he challenges and defeats the gods themselves, including Lord Indra, in a bid to assert his dominance.

The action block is reportedly being mounted on a huge scale, with elaborate sets, VFX-heavy sequences, and extensive stunt choreography. Kunal Kapoor, known for his towering presence and powerful performances in films like Rang De Basanti and The Empire, will be seen in a rare action avatar as he takes on Yash in a fierce duel that pushes both characters to their limits.

As per mythology, during this battle, Raavan overpowers Lord Indra and is moments away from annihilating him when Lord Brahma intervenes to stop him. However, the story doesn’t end there for Indra. When the final confrontation between Lord Ram and Raavan takes place, Lord Indra gets his moment of redemption. He sends down his celestial chariot to aid Lord Ram in his battle against evil, thus playing a crucial role in turning the tide.

This narrative arc not only adds depth to the character of Lord Indra but also offers Kunal Kapoor a unique opportunity to portray strength, defeat, and eventual redemption—all wrapped in a visually grand package. With Yash and Kunal set to collide in this dramatic sequence, Ramayan is shaping up to be a cinematic experience unlike any other

The film has a strong line-up with Ranbir Kapoor as Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita , Sunny Deol as Hanuman , Rakul Preet Singh as Surpankha and Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi .
