Alex Ovechkin , the 39-year-old ice hockey left winger and captain for the Washington Capitals , is far too excited for the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs . On April 19, just two days before the Capitals face off against the Montreal Canadiens , Alex Ovechkin addressed the media after practice. Ovechkin shared, “I feel good. The regular season is over. That’s why you play six months, working out for this kind of one.” Comparing last year’s game with this year’s game, Alex Ovechkin shared, “Last year was kind of battle to the last game. Obviously, this year, we knew we gonna be in the playoffs. After new year, we just have to continue collecting points.”
“So, you nervous?” Alex Ovechkin asked a media reporter

Alex Ovechkin looked promising and felt hopeful as he shared, “I’m pretty sure we are gonna be fine.” with the media. When the media asked how he felt about being in the playoffs, Ovechkin shared, “That’s why you work all year. Hard to be able to be in this position, this situation - the mic or mobile of a reporter slipped from their hand, and Alex Ovechkin asked, “So, you nervous?” everyone laughed - so, yeah, I think, it’s a fun time of the year for everybody.”
The Washington Capitals captain was surrounded by tonnes of microphones, mobile phones, and recorders while addressing the media. Also, the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs are just 2 days from April 19! Ovechkin was sweating, too. Probably nervous. But when a mic or mobile of a reporter fell, slipped, or stumbled down for a second, Alex Ovechkin noticed it.
And Ovechkin said, “So, you nervous?” everybody laughed at that moment. Even a little fun can relieve the pressure on the Washington Capitals’ captain! The Ovechkin smile that came after making everyone laugh was priceless! Alexander Ovechkin may be nervous, but he’s not showing it. He’s being strong. He is strong for his team! He is strong for Washington!
