That is, the team removed him from their active roster, and they have seven days to trade him, release him, or send him to the minor leagues if he goes through waivers. 38-year-old Carlos Carrasco had appeared in just eight games for the Yankees this season. In those performances he completed 32 innings and his earned run average (ERA) was 5.91, far too high to be starting. His last performance was on May 3, 2025 and it was at Yankee Stadium in New York City where he had given up four runs in just over four innings.


The Yankees had signed Carlos Carrasco before the 2025 season in an effort to add with the team's rotation help with experience. Carrasco had come from the Cleveland Guardians and New York Mets prior to coming to the Yankees.


Many of the fans were hoping that he would provide some stability in the team's rotation, while Carrasco was beginning to show slow improvement. He was conceding too many runs in early games and not going deep in his appearances most of the time.

After the debacle performance of Carlos Carrasco in late April, the matter was discussed by New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone. Aaron Boone described it after a match played at Florida's Tropicana Field on the Tampa Bay Rays on April 28, 2025, saying, "Carlos gave it everything he had, but at this juncture we need more quality starts. It's a competitive league, and each game is significant."


The future of Carlos Carrasco in Major League Baseball is uncertain. If a team fails to pick him up on waivers, he can join the Yankees' minor league squad or can sign as a free agent.
