NEW DELHI: Tamil Nadu BJP vice president Narayanan Thirupathy on Thursday lashed out at the ruling DMK government for installing a temple 'gopuram' above the burial site of former chief minister M Karunanidhi at Marina Beach in Chennai.
In a post on X, Thirupathy called the move “an assault on the faith and beliefs of Hindus.”
“I strongly condemn the DMK for placing a temple gopuram on top of the former Chief Minister Mr. Karunanidhi’s burial place. This is the height of arrogance and stupidity to the core,” he wrote.
Thirupathy further criticised the decision, stating that a place where a body is buried is no place for a temple.
“How can a temple gopuram be portrayed on a place where a body is buried? This is an assault on the faith and beliefs of Hindus. The Chief Minister, M.K. Stalin , must immediately order its removal. Playing with the sentiments of Hindus will cost the DMK in the future,” he said.
Thirupathy alleged that the “anti-Hindu DMK government” would be voted out soon.
“Playing with Hindu sentiments will cost DMK in the future,” he said, reiterating that “the anti-Hindu DMK government will be voted out of power shortly.”
