NEW DELHI: NIA is conducting a probe to ascertain any sabotage angle in the recent train derailments , but is yet to find anything concrete to back this theory.
Sources in the agency said a preliminary enquiry (PE) has been filed to examine the possibility of sabotage having caused the recent accidents, given that boulders, cement sleepers, and empty gas cylinders were found to have been placed on tracks in some cases.
"At least four train accident cases were being looked into by NIA as part of the PE, to which more were added in view of fresh accidents/derailments," said an official.
Nothing concrete has come up to suggest there were sabotage attempts in these derailments, the official added. As a result, a regular case is yet to be filed by NIA.
