The Washington County Sheriff's Office has now revealed that Tyler Robinson , the accused killer of Charlie Kirk, was aware that his arrest was inevitable, but he was scared that he would be shot and hence agreed to turn himself in for a gentle arrest.
Washington County Sheriff Nate Brooksby said he received a call at 8.02 pm on September 11 from a retired detective who told him he knew Charlie Kirk's shooter. Just before 10 pm, Tyler, his father and a family friend of theirs who previously worked in law enforcement drove from Washington, Utah, to the Washington County Sheriff's Office in Hurricane.
During the drive, the family friend called the personal cellphone of the Washington County Sheriff's Office patrol division chief to report that the suspect was about to turn himself in.
Sgt. Lance Alfred, a spokesperson for the sheriff's office, said when Tyler arrived at the sheriff's office, he was taken into a building marked "Authorized personnel only". He was kept at the office for the night and was turned over to teh FBI which just before 6am. Tyler was quiet and somber the whole time and the officials attempted to make the conditions "gentle" and "inviting" for Robinson.
Robinson did not agree to turn himself in initially and even told his father that he would rather end his life than be arrested by the cops.
Another sensational claim has been made about what Tyler did exactly after killing Charlie Kirk. Conservative activist Candace Owens claimed that Tyler went straight to buy an ice cream at a Dairy Queen outlet in Orem, near Utah Valley University. Owens cited an image of Taylor in a maroon t-shirt and cap captured at 6.38pm. Tyler reportedly came to Utah Valley campus around 8.30 am, and Kirk was shot at 12.23 pm.
The accused is now inmate No 460956 and is under 24x7 surveillance so that he can't kill himself as he was showing suicidal tendencies. He is also kept in a special housing unit away from other prisoners to avoid any potential altercation.
